Disappointment
20 Jul
I won’t beat about the bush I received some disappointing news yesterday, not totally unexpected, but disappointing none the less. Last year I attended an event called the Do Lectures and ended up make a little film about the event, titled unsurprisingly the Do Documentary. The whole experience gave me so much it’s hard to describe. But sat listening too, talking with and eating with so many inspirational people, people that have had many knock backs over the years, and yet still ploughed on to get to where they have wanted to be. You couldn’t help but leave after the four days on a high of possibilities and ideas for what to do next.
One thing in particular that I have realized is that my expectations are so much higher than before. All the things that I dream of doing, creating, and where I dream of creating them, should be, no, are possible! So when Alex at Do told me yesterday that they (as I had anticipated to be honest), had someone else line up to do this years documentary there was an air of disappointment about the house. Despite completely understanding the need to keep things fresh etc by having someone different do it each year, I could help but let out a small “arse” under my breath.
See people. The Do Lectures are such a shot in the arm, such a breath of fresh air, such inspiration that there’s every reason for you to try and get there. By hook or by crook it’s will be the best investment in your career/plans/ambitions that you’ll make all year. It’s made and continues to make such an impact on my life that I would urge anyone to go (I think there’s a few tickets left). It may seem pricey on the face of it, but it is value for money honest, and there are other ways to get your hands on a ticket. Become a member, competitions, or volunteer; contact info@thedolectures.co.uk for more details. Me I made a 23 sec video and the rest as they say is history.
Many thanks Do!
P.S If it goes belly up you know where to call:-)
